"JA JA JA JA JA, NEE NEE NEE NEE NEE", silk tie inspired by Joseph Beuys, black/grey

The artwork "JA JA JA JA JA, NEE NEE NEE NEE NEE" is an audio recording by Joseph Beuys, Henning Christiansen, and Johannes Stüttgen. It was recorded as part of a Fluxus event in December 1968 at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. For almost an hour, the three spoke the words "Ja, Ja, Ja, Ja, Ja, Nee, Nee, Nee, Nee, Nee" in a local accent. Speed and emphasis varied slightly, but overall, a calm, rhythmic speaking style predominated.

The tape recording was later associated by art experts with a mantra that, through the constant repetition of the same terms, creates a hypnotic effect that frees the listener's mind from the usual chaos of thoughts and judgments. In Joseph Beuys's catalogue raisonné, it is noted as "Imitation of a 'Grandma's Conversation'." The recording also led to a limited multiple in the form of an audiotape, embedded in felt plates.

Inspired by Beuys's work, we have exclusively and in a limited edition produced this woven pure silk tie as a quote from his art action. From a distance, the tie appears classically subtly striped. Only up close is the woven text legible. This makes the tie wearable on many occasions and at the same time an ironic statement, with an artistic reference for connoisseurs and fans of the artist Joseph Beuys.
